What are good places for authentic Hawaiian food in Oahu, Hawaii?

I want to try some traditional food, but I don't want to try the Luau because that will bust my travel budget. Are there any good places in Oahu that serves authentic Hawaiian food? My budget is about $20.

Ono Hawaiian Foods on Kapahulu Ave & Date St. across from Tesoro gas station, 1/2 mile up, away from the ocean from the Zoo. The Zoo is on the waterfront at the South end of Waikiki. $10/person, there are also about10-15 other restraunts on Kapahulu Ave., all good, the Chinese restraunts are good. Ruger Market by Daimond Head Theatre & Kapiolani Community College, by Daimond Head, in a residential area, About $10. Lau Lau, Kahlua Pig, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Smoked Fish, raw fish (poke), poi (there is a poi shortage right now, no kidding, poi is called Kalo it is the main sustinence of Hawaiians, also known as Taro, Poi is just like Hawaiian Mashed Potatoes except much more nutrients than potatoes, it is an acquired taste, if you don't like it that's alright, more for us locals. Not a restaraunt, take out, but you can sit outside on the benches or drive a mile to the Daimond Head Lookout, or Kapiolani Park (next to the Zoo) Lots of Drive ins that serve plate lunches have "Hawaiian Plate" for about 6-$8, just ask the locals where you can get one Hawaiian Plate Lunch. Bon Apetit.

5 Great Honeymoon Destinations In The US

Whether you are looking for a quiet, laid-back stay or an action-packed vacation, chances are you will find a destination that suits the desires of you and your partner for a romantic honeymoon in the United States.

1. Hawaii

With its pristine beaches, tropical scenery and wide variety of foods, activities and tourist spots to keep you busy, Hawaii is a popular choice for countless honeymooners from around the world. Hawaii offers a number of tourism options for the various types of guests it hosts each year. Some visitors might opt to rent a car or take a guided tour around the island they are staying on. By exploring the islands of Hawaii, guests will enjoy discovering serene waterfalls and spectacular views of the beautiful beaches that lace the outskirts of the islands. Perhaps one of the most romantic Hawaiian pastimes comes in the form of watching a sunset with your new spouse. For the active couple, Hawaii offers a number of top golf courses that honeymooners can enjoy. One of the more popular activities is to attend a Hawaiian luau.

2. Niagara Falls

Couples can register to get a guided boat cruise around the falls. For a fun night out, honeymooners can visit Casino Niagara, conveniently located right across from Niagara Falls. For honeymooners who enjoy day trips the scenic Catskill Mountains are not located far from the falls. There are two “sides” of the falls, the US side and the Canadian side. The Canadian site give you a much better view of the falls so don’t forget your Passports!

3. Florida

Vacations in Florida are ideal for honeymooners. Disney World offers special honeymoon vacation packages to cater to those looking for a romantic getaway. There are even a number of Disney resorts that attract couples rather than families. If theme parks are not your cup of tea, consider a trip further south to Key West or Miami. These areas offer classy resorts, sprawling beaches, and plenty of attractions that will keep both you and your significant other happily busy.

4. Las Vegas

If you have money to blow and you’re feeling lucky, Las Vegas is the place for you. In addition to gambling, you will find shopping, nightlife, and even a short drive to the Grand Canyon where you can sit in your car and look out over the moon.

5. California

California here I come! There is a reason the Beachboys wrote so many songs about the California coast. There are so many potential honeymoon destinations it’s hard to name them all. If you want a more quiet honeymoon you can visit Carmel or Santa Barbra. If you want a more adventurous honey moon you can visit the L.A. area where you can visit Universal Studios, Disney Land, Knotts Berry Farm and Magic Mountain.

what kind of poisinous things live in hawaii?

my 18th bday is coming up and my parents are gonna build me a beach house in maui and i wanna know what kinda things live there

No snakes, nothing really. There is centipedes and spiders and ants that can't bite, but you may never see any of them and they aren't something you can die from or need to be rushed to ER for.

Which island is the best for a 4-days vacation in Hawaii?

My boyfriend and I plan to go to Hawaii during mid-October for a 4-days trip. I've done a lot of researches yet I can't decide which island I should go to. We are looking for a somewhat romantic trip that doesn't include much sightseeing. We prefer being active at outdoor activities such as diving, snorkeling, laying/swimming near the beach, sailing… etc. So far I've come down to Big Island, Maui, and Oahu. Can you please give me some advice on which island I should pick and recommend me some activies that I definitely cannot miss? Also, if possible, let me know which hotel comes with a beach that we can actually swim. I gotta have this trip plan out as soon as possible, please help~~!!

That's a huge question, and would require a huge answer. And depends on a lot of things like your interests and budget.

That said, here's what our family and friends do before they come to visit. We built a web page with the best links and things to do in Hawaii, rated and reviewed. That way they could look BEFORE they got here and see what they want to do. Our 4-star rated items may be a good place to start for those "don't miss" things.

Our family's going to Kauai next…that island's famous for not having much nightlife and the like, but is gorgeous and romantic. Of course there's beach access and water activities like you mentioned. If you go to Maui, our web page has a link to a page that shows aerial pictures of the island's resorts, so you can see them before you go. If you go to Oahu, and money's no problem…since you want to get off the beaten path…consider Ko Olina resort. Four wonderful lagoons, but close enough to Honolulu that you can get there and back for dinner and other activities. Also look at Turtle Bay on the North Shore. Definitely remote, and while it does have nice beaches of it's own, it's also close to the other North Shore beaches.

The page is at http://home.hawaii.rr.com/gonebananas. Could go into a longer answer here, but with all the work we put into that page, well, you'll see…it will answer your questions.

Would really like some information on Hawaii. Things like places to stay, where to eat, what to do, best time of year to visit and places to see.

That's a big question, and depends on a lot of things…kids? alone? couple? group? budget?

Are there any tours to The south eastern end of Oahu from Hawaii Kai to Waimanalo where black cliffs are.?

There are circle island tours that include the eastern portion of the island. You could also take the beach bus (#22) which would get you a good view of the area you are asking about.
